Zaparas Lawyers client awarded $1.37M for injuries sustained at playcentre
A man left with permanent and devastating spinal injuries after a platform he was standing on collapsed at a Victorian playcentre has been awarded over $1.3M in damages by the County Court.
The verdict, reached on 19 October 2018 by Zaparas Lawyers, came after the firm took action on behalf of the victim – who cannot be named due to privacy reasons.
Unable to work since suffering the injury over three years ago, the victim remains totally incapacitated and is predicted by his medical team to remain so into the foreseeable future.
The compensation received will ensure that, despite his condition, the victim will be able to provide for his young family and also access the medical treatment necessary to get his life as back to normal as possible.
Zaparas Lawyers senior associate Isabelle Murphy, who acted on behalf of the victim along with law clerk Georgio Skoumbri, said that the injury had a significant impact on the quality of life of the client.
“Our client has suffered not only physically but emotionally and financially for the last three years. The strain and stress of his accident were also felt by his wife and two young daughters. We are extremely pleased by the outcome and that it will make a difference in his quality of life moving forward” she said.
The firm’s founding partner, Peter Zaparas, said he was thrilled to see this outcome achieved for the client.
“The size of this compensation sets an important precedent for all public liability claimants in Victoria moving forward” he said.
“The outcome of this case shows that our clients can trust that we will always work tirelessly on their behalf to achieve the best possible outcomes”.
