Senior Legal Assistant - Gold Coast

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to join our new Gold Coast office.

The opportunity

You will be responsible for carrying out a range of secretarial tasks and higher end legal support duties as assigned by your supervisor. This include but not limit to:

  • Opening new files, preparing letters and correspondence, drafting medical legal letters of instruction, compiling briefs and court documents.
  • File management - proactively liaising with the supervising solicitor and relevant parties to advance files.
  • Developing and maintaining billing systems.
  • Monitoring critical dates to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Diary management
  • Handling general client requests and other in-bound callers via telephone and face to face.
  • Assisting with project work and in training of legal assistants where necessary.

The successful applicant

The Senior Legal Assistant position at Zaparas will be both challenging and rewarding. We are looking for someone with a strong legal background who wants to step up in a senior role which will provide variety in their daily work.

  • You are a self-motivated individual who can work efficiently with minimal supervision
  • You have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with clients.
  • You have great attention to details and is able to complete tasks to a high standard.
  • You are a team player who is willing to share knowledge and help your peers.
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a recognised personal injury firm.

Due to our rapid growth, a vacancy has become available for a legal assistant to join our professional and supportive TAC division.

As a full time, Senior Legal Assistant in our TAC department at Zaparas Lawyers, your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Having a comprehensive understanding of the litigation procedures in the respective department.
  • Carrying out a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks as assigned by the supervising Lawyer.
  • Overseeing the practice of their supervising Lawyer with minimal supervision.
  • Managing file flow.
  • Monitoring of upcoming critical dates.
  • Having superior communication skills and the ability to deal sensitively and confidently with clients.
  • Assisting with client requests and other in-bound callers such as medical and health providers, barristers etc. via telephone and face-to-face. Role does not provide legal advice to clients.
  • Quality and quantity of tasks such as letters and briefs meeting standards expected – appropriate format of letters and emails.
  • Effective interactions with stakeholders (internal and external) including clients.
  • Relate, receive and convey Files are maintained to a high standard (paper and electronic), enabling key personnel to access complete information readily.
  • Prepare Court Documents, letter and briefs.
